Prudential Rubloff participants and their guests who attended the all-day event enjoyed golf, tennis, auctions, raffles, live music, dinner and camaraderie well into the evening.
A highlight of the event was hearing how much our support means to the Sunshine Kids firsthand from a child undergoing cancer treatment. To learn more about the importance of their work and the fun they are able to provide to kids was heartwarming.
Another highlight was the helicopter golf ball drop – that’s right, we dropped golf balls from a helicopter! Leading up to the event, golf balls were available for purchase for a $20 donation. Each ball was signed by the purchaser to display their generosity. All of the balls were then taken to the event and loaded on a helicopter that landed directly in front of the venue near a putting green. The balls were taken for a brief flight around the resort and dropped directly over a flag planted in the middle of the fairway just in front of the banquet hall. The ball that landed closest to the flag won twenty percent of the proceeds raised by the golf ball promotion with the balance going to the Sunshine Kids. One might have imagined Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee playing as the helicopter flew over the course and approached the green. Golf balls rained down like hail and spectators waited with anticipation until the last ball rested. The ball closest to the hole belonged to Wayne Kouf from the Lincoln Park Halsted office!
